This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, phone number and password (stored securely as a one-way hash).
  • Profile and CV: your experience level, education, skills, preferred location, address, right to work status, LinkedIn or portfolio links and any CV you upload.
  • Applications: the jobs you apply for, your cover letters and the progress of each application.
  • Messages and enquiries: anything you send us through the contact or Post a Job forms.
  • Newsletter: your email address if you subscribe to job alerts or our newsletter.
  • Technical data: basic server logs (such as IP address and browser type) used to keep the site secure.

How we use it

  • To provide your account and process your job applications (contract).
  • To assess your suitability for roles, contact you about them and prepare you for interviews (legitimate interests).
  • To share your details with a hiring employer for a specific role, only after you have applied for or agreed to be put forward for that role (consent).
  • To send job alerts and our newsletter where you have opted in (consent). You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To reply to messages and enquiries, and to meet our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We share candidate information only with employers for roles you have applied for or agreed to be considered for, and with service providers who help us run the website and our business (such as hosting and email), under contracts that protect your data. We never sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. If your account has been inactive for two years we will contact you, and delete your data if you don't respond. You can delete your account and CV at any time from your profile page.

How we protect it

CVs are stored privately and are never available at a public web address. Only you and our authorised staff can download them. The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS) and passwords are never stored in readable form.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@techrecruitmentspecialists.uk. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to work: a session cookie to keep you signed in and a security cookie to protect forms. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
